Feeling renewed after a monster cheat

Doesn't feel like it has been a week since I posted.

So I missed two days last week due to being sick. Girl Scout cookies arrived Friday, bad move. I had already slacked during the week because I was sick so I hadn't hit my proteins for the day etc and may have had a bowl of lucky charms and then a Somoa cookie (since mike ate the rest of the box) and came home from leg day and ate a cheeseburger and some more peanut butter chocolate cookies. Hypothetically I fell off the wagon but I got back up and Saturday I did double duty by going to combat class and sticking around and doing back and bi with mike.

Sunday I did combat class again.

Since I have not been pleased with seeing my weight move on the scale, I re-instituted using My Fitness Pal, with the goal of losing 1.5 lbs a week until I hit my goal. This puts me eating 1370 calories a day and I still include my macros of getting 170 grams of protein a day. I have cut my carbs in half for my first two meals and have added more veggies and fruit to my diet than Mike had allowed. I have lost 3 lbs so far. It is crazy how using MFP has sort of given me a renewal on the working out and diet since I can see my progress and even though I was diligent before about what I was eating and how much etc, see it broke down for me takes it to a different level.

Monday I did chest and tri

Tuesday Pilates Reformer and combat class

Wednesday I was down with a tweaked back

Thursday (today) the gym was closed in the AM due to snow but opened back up for me to get in a combat class again. Alas, as I was walking into class my least favorite instructor was teaching so I opted for an elliptical workout instead, burned the same amount of calories. I will hit the weights again tomorrow as I was giving my back one more day off to fully recover before lifting.

If you friend me in MYP  @ mshr12345, you can see my exact meals and workouts too.

Ice Ice Baby

I have been SICK and I don't get sick! I am blaming the husband who started this and then Matthew. It started Sunday...

Saturday morning, aka Valentine's Day, was Combat class and then we had our cheat meal for dinner which was pizza and a brownie with ice cream, I hated myself during and after the meal. The point of the cheat meal is to enjoy your cravings without guilt so that you don't fall off the wagon the remainder of the week. I think next time I cheat I will have to do so outside the house so that I don't take another extra bite. In my head I was going to take 2 cardio classes on Sunday and do weights but instead I was sick and slept in so I missed morning Combat. I did half ass it through Body Attack but was feeling sicker as the class went on. I came home instead of dong weights after and laid low the remainder of the day. I stuck to my diet though with the addition of some hot honey water for my throat. I woke up Monday feeling cruddy still but since it was President's Day and I had all 3 kiddos alone I had no choice but to get up and make the best of the day, which meant I went to the gym and did chest and tri.

Tuesday since we were iced in I did not make it to a morning workout since there was no child care available but did pull it together for a great evening Combat class.  I am again frustrated with my progress. I have asked Mike to re do my diet plan since I am not seeing any changes. I keep TRYING to remind myself that I was just pregnant with my third baby three months ago and I am able to fit into my pre pregnancy jeans, but its not satisfying yet. I want to not feel mushy and pliable. I want to not care about it. I want to not compare my stomach to that of non mothers. Not comparing is so hard to do, I think we all do it to some extent but I have realized that I do it to an extreme and am working on this flaw of mine to enjoy my journey and be thankful for how far I have come.

Wednesday was the first time I have missed the gym completely because I was feeling very cruddy. I went to the minute clinic as I do not have a regular doctor because as I mentioned I don't get sick. Alas I have pink eye in both eyes, an ear infection and ridiculous head cold, antibiotics it is. I did not stick to my diet yesterday, I made an orange juice and vanilla protein smoothie and had oats for breakfast but did not eat again until late evening which was an apple and some peanut butter crackers. Even Mike commented on how I don't get sick like this as he was nice enough to close the bedroom door and watch the kids as I took a 2 hour nap. I am feeling a smidgen better today and if I keep feeling better I will combat tonight and try to get a leg workout in as well.

I have a few friends that have been asking for tips and workouts and I hope you all are enjoying the journey as well

Wednesday's Workout

Back and Bi: 10 minute warm up
4 x 12
Low row
Rope Bicep curl
Lat pull downs front and back
Standing Lat Pull
Bent Over Rows
Concentration Curl
Barbell Curl

It was a low carb day and I was just not feeling it. I taste tested the honey mustard sauce I made the kids for their home made nuggets and I found myself with a handful of Lily's cereal but stopped myself.

Thursday's Workout

Legs- 10 minute warm up
4 x 12
weighted back squats
step ups
hack squats
dead lifts
Hack press
Leg sled
Leg curls

I went back and took Combat class as well, it is great but I feel like I am getting too used to it. I used to be halfway through class looking at the clock and now its the end of class and I cannot believe its over already. I am still breaking a good sweat for sure but I think I might start trying other classes to see which gets my heart-rate up.

Total loss of 6 pounds so far. Feeling stronger and my cardio level is increasing. I really want to focus on getting rid of the back fat, lifting my booty and removing the extra swing from my arms.

Today is my little ones Valentine's class party, so I will miss my afternoon workout. I will head out later to workout shoulders.
I have not indulged in ANY Candy whatsoever, even the peanut butter hearts. We are having a Valentine's day cheat meal and I am debating between a Philly cheese steak or a Kahlua Mudslide. Oh decisions!

Monday was chest and tri day, I had to get back on track as far as what body part I was working out.

Warm up 12 min on treadmill, last 5 running.

I started with hanging leg raises, targeting the lower abs 2 x 30 while I waited for Mike to finish up his cardio.

4 x 12
Flat bench press
Seated dumbbell extensions
Incline dumbbell fly
Flat bench dumbbell press
Cable crossovers

I had my staple oats and protein for meals 1 and 2. Meal 3 was eggs, meal 4 was chicken marbala sans brown sugar and meal 5 was a protein shake. We had a busy evening running around so it was a time crunch.

Today I did Pilates Reformer and I will head back later for combat class.

Again meals 1 and 2 were oats and protein. Lunch was eggs again and since I needed more protein I mixed some vanilla protein with a little water and mashed a banana together. I think pork loin is on tap for the remainder of the day if I get up and make it...

Here is a before and during (since my after is not complete)

Saturday was a cheat meal day and it seemed as though everything was revolting against me. I did Body Combat yesterday as my work out. Had plans to have a brunch date with the hubs and the littlest in my life while my mom graciously watched the older kiddos. We headed to brunch, which was all for me since Mike is more of a meat and potatoes kinda guy rather than syrupy madness. The wait was 50 minutes long and that was not gonna fly. So we ran a few errands and ended up at a different brunch place where the wait was not as bad. I ordered a bananas foster waffle and home fries. I could crunch on the sugar from the caramelized bananas. It was good but not as good as I had built it in my mind. Which means that this diet is changing my taste buds.

Prior to me getting pregnant with Levi, I would indulge on a cupcake or cookie here and there and within a half hour feel like utter garbage, so my body is back to that place where sugar at high doses is revolting. I am nervous that after this 12 week plan that if I do not keep up 100% with the clean eating that I will balloon up in weight and also now that I know I can eat this way that I will give myself even more food regret when I want to eat something off the plan. Knowledge is power and guilt inducing.

Today I got up and did Combat again and plan to return this afternoon to hit the shoulders that I missed earlier in the week and try running again for a little extra boost. It is nice to be able to go to the gym sans kids so I don't have that rushed feeling to get my workout done before a kid melts down.

I am making crock pot chicken again, since it shreds really nicely and is easier to stomach cold. Reheated chicken tastes like the bowels of hell and smells even worse. It is a low carb day again which works out fine since I porked out yesterday. Tomorrow starts week 6 of this diet plan, I will have to ask my coach aka the hubs if my carb ratio changes or not. Here is to a great week!

Happy Sunday!

Stronger Today

Today is the first day I have noticed that I am feeling stronger. I worked legs today and did more weight on each exercise than I normally do and probably could have done more.

I ran on the treadmill for my warm up which is the first time I didn't feel all floppy while doing so.

Legs:
4 x 15

Weighted Sumo Squats
Stiff Leg Dead Lifts
Hack Squats
Leg press
Hamstring curls
Leg extensions

As I have stated before the new combat release has a ton of squats and lunges so I have not been incorporating lunges into my leg days lately.

I also found the trick to keeping my sweet tooth in line. I made protein 'sludge' per Muffin-Topless.
It's 1 scoop chocolate protein, 2 tbsp. peanut butter powder and 1 tsp. cocoa powder with just enough water to mix it, then pop it in the freezer to set and take a spoonful when ever the need strikes. Tastes like a peanut butter cup.(Random side note, whenever I see the word POP I first read it as Poop and have to always double check that I write and/or am reading the right word).

It's my high carb day and for my protein I made pork loin in the crock pot yesterday and it was a lot better than drying the crap out of it in the oven. Carbs today are oats for meals one and two and that is it for the day, just a double portion.

I made this dinner last night for the kids and it went over surprisingly well- Matthew is a picky eater and he declared it was delicious.

Hey ya'll

My little nugget turned 3 months this week and my husband and older son both have the chest crud that is going around so I have been running around but feeling like nothing is getting accomplished.

Yesterday was a quick workout since my little one started to rev up in the car on the way to the gym, so I took a detour to lull him to sleep which worked but ate into my gym daycare time.

No warmup- Back and Bi

12 x 4 each:

Front and rear lat pull down
Lat row
'w' bar bicep curl on the machine
barbell and dumbbell bicep curl

Yesterdays meals were the usual for the first two meals and then 5 oz of turkey pattied with 'Awe Shit' seasoning for meals 3 and 4 and I had a protein shake for meal 5. I tried to go to bed at 8:30 last night but alas I was awake still close to 1.

Today is a low carb day. I made it to the gym a little earlier and did chest and triceps.

10 minute warm up on treadmill at 4.1
12 x 4 each:
incline dumbbell press and fly
flat bench press
overhead barbell extension aka skull crushers
chest
tricep rope push down and over head
Cable cross overs

at the gym but not as motivated as I would like to be

I am heading back later for a combat class to get in the extra cardio I need to see the scale move. Just put a pork loin in the crock pot for dinner and tomorrow's meals. Today will be eggs and chicken for my protein.

I am very much looking forward to a cheat meal this week, I am thinking brunch with a coffee with tasty cream and perhaps some sort of breakfast pastry,

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

Yesterday was a low carb day which was fine by me since I indulged for the Super Bowl. I felt like the very hungry caterpillar, I had 4 meatballs, 1 slider, 3 weenie tots and 2 oatmeal fudge bars- say what?! Oh yes I did.

Mondays workout was Body Attack which is a cardio class with lots of running. It is not my favorite class just because I feel like I am not accomplishing anything even though I am sweating my ass off. It reminds me a lot of cheer-leading practice with some of the arm movements, perhaps a little Jane Fonda-esque but it does wear you out for sure.

I  had planned to return for my weights later in the afternoon but my daughter was not feeling well and the rest of the day was not an option so I missed my chest day which I will have to make up for sometime this week.

My meals were the same as every morning, oatmeal and protein, and my 3rd and 4th meal were 5oz of  pork loin and my last meal was a protein shake.

Today is my high carb day, which again is oats and protein, just a larger portion. I am taking my Pilates reformer class and then will head back this evening for Combat.

Reformer is not ALL abs but it is mostly core focused. I look forward to this class because you are not straining yourself but afterwards feel muscles that you did not realize you were working out.

Hope you are all enjoying February and sticking to those January goals. This is the beginning of week 5 of 12 for my diet program. I have lost 5 lbs but fluctuating. I am going to continue to listen to Mike and see where this leads me. Today my little munchkin is 3 months old so I am pleased with where I am at body wise even though I have a long road ahead to be where I want to be.

Just a quick weekend update:

Both Saturday and Sunday I did BodyCombat- It DOES matter what instructor you take in my book but that is neither here nor there. We are having a cheat tonight and I made these

http://livingbeyondmeasure.com/deep-dish-oatmeal-fudge-bars/

Oh my lawd! I cannot wait to have one and some chicken wing dip and a beer, followed by a stomach ache, some horrendous gas (that I will blame on Levi) and ultimately the misery that follows indulging. Cheers!
